Setting up OpenVPN on Ubuntu using Network Manager

Download an archive with configuration files

Extract an archive with configuration files:

Open a terminal window:

Install openvpn, network-manager-openvpn-gnome and unbound packages:

sudo apt-get install openvpn network-manager-openvpn-gnome unbound
sudo chmod +x /etc/resolvconf/update.d/unbound

Restart NetworkManager:

sudo /etc/init.d/network-manager restart

If /etc/init.d/network-manager file does not exist, run the following command:

sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager.service

Click on the network connections icon in tray. Choose "Edit Connections...":

Import configuration file:

Choose OpenVPN configuration file for a needed server from "zorrovpn" directory:

Save imported VPN connection:

Close "Network Connections":

Choose "VPN connections" and connect to VPN server:

Connected.

DNS leaks preventing

Go to "Edit Connections...", choose your ISP connection and click "Edit"

Go to "IPv4 Settings", then set "Automatic (DHCP) addresses only" and save the settings.
